Over the past decade, floriculture and nursery crops have been one of the fastest growing U.S. agricultural sectors. Of the estimated $44 billion in U.S. horticulture sales in 2002, floral and nursery crops contributed about a third, or $14 billion, less than vegetables' sales receipts of $17 billion, but more than fruits and nuts' $13 billion.
