Manure Usage

There is renewed interest in using manure as a resource rather than a simply disposed of it.  Manure has once again come into demand as a fertilizer due to the high prices of commercial fertilizers.  Also, a variety of other uses for manure are being explored including the generation of methane and as a heat source.

Valuing Manure Nutrients provides a discussion of procedures to use in establishing a price for manure.

Swine Manure Calculator is a decision tool to investigate the value of manure as fertilize based on component pricing and a comparable commercial fertilizer budget.  Sheets for both corn-soybean and corn-corn-soybean rotations are provided.
