Overview

Flax production in the United States occurs in North Dakota, South Dakota, Montana and Minnesota. In 2010, total U.S. flax production was 9 million bushels valued at $110 million. Flax was worth $12.20 per bushel in 2010. 

Over 90 percent of the flax was grown in North Dakota, which harvested 388,000 acres in 2010. Flax production in the state totaled 8.5 million bushels. March 2011 ... Flax

  • Prizzey’s, Manitoba, Canada - This value-added processor supplies flaxseed ingredients customized to the specific needs of the food, beverage and nutritional products industries.
  • American Natural Soy, Cherokee, Iowa - This company toll processes organic soybean and flax seed into oil and meal. They also organically refine, bleach and deodorize (RBD) canola, sunflower and safflower oils. Product is shipped all over the world.
