Overview
Vegetable production remains a nearly $20 billion industry with the top ten most productive states producing 79% of all vegetable sales in 2017. In terms of production, the three largest vegetable crops are potatoes, sweet corn and lettuce. California continues to be the leader in fresh vegetable production. The state accounted for roughly 42 percent of national production. Idaho was the next largest producer of fresh vegetables, followed by Washington. (NASS)
