President Barack Obama and nearly all of America’s governors have proclaimed June as Great Outdoors Month, dedicated to inviting visitors to public lands – and especially first-timers – to take advantage of the fun and healthy activities that public lands have to offer.
“Enthusiasm for encouraging participation in outdoor fun is exploding – uniting government agencies, concerned parents, recreation businesses, the healthcare community and more,” remarked American Recreation Coalition (ARC) President Derrick Crandall. “Evidence of this new and potent force is the growing array of events and activities in June, which is Great Outdoors Month. In addition to Presidential and gubernatorial Great Outdoors Month proclamations, June featured actions range from visits to national parks to town hall meetings and conferences on kids, recreation and health hosted by governors and lieutenant governors.
So, step outside and enjoy nature and all it has to offer!
