The AgMRC Renewable Fuels Monthly Report is now being produced as a partnership between the Agricultural Marketing Resource Center operated by the Value Added Agriculture Program at Iowa State Extension and Outreach (ISUEO), and the Iowa Grain Quality Initiative (IGQI) (www.iowagrain.org), an ISUEO program directed specifically at grain processing and handling.
The IGQI, under the leadership of Dr. Charles Hurburgh, agricultural engineering, provides technical support to producers, handlers and processors of Iowa grain. The IGQI has three priority programs; responding to immediate issues such as drought or frost, application of food safety and quality management systems in bulk commodity distribution, and crop quality as applied to processing, with corn-to-ethanol being the major processing use in Iowa.
Connection of the IGQI and the monthly report will provide a long-term connection with the research and technical expertise of ISUEO, as well as provide expanded student opportunities for interaction with industry.
